Mountain to Coast in Oregon [Waitlist open!]

From volcanic peaks to rugged coastline, we’ll journey from the alpine slopes of Mount Hood to the windswept shores of the Oregon Coast. Trek through towering evergreens, wander past cascading waterfalls, explore lush canyon trails, and breathe in the salty air along Cannon Beach. Evenings are for cozy fires, local flavors, and good company—where adventure meets the art of slowing down.


Difficulty Rating - Moderate to Difficult, Some Challenging Treks

Expect a mix of elevation and terrain: max gain around 2,000 ft, 25–35 total miles of hiking, light daypacks (clothing, trail snacks, water). Anticipate crisp mountain mornings, mild coastal breezes, and a blend of sunshine, mist, and that signature Oregon magic.

Itinerary

Each day is packed with adventure, but with flexible options

DAY 1 Plan/Options

Early afternoon: 

  • We will meet at Portland Airport (PDX) and make our way along the Columbia River Gorge, east to Hood River (~1 hr drive in our group van).
  • Quick stop at Latourell Falls for a short walk to stretch your legs.
  • Coffee stop: Coava Coffee in Portland before hitting the road.

Late afternoon: 

  • Early Dinner at Solstice Woodfired Pizza
  • Check into lodging in Mt Hood
  • Shop for food at some point on the travels.  Probably Hood River area.




DAY 2 Plan/Options

Morning: Drive the Historic Columbia River Highway.

  • Moderate hike: Wahkeena–Multnomah Falls Loop (4.5 mi, 1,600 ft gain) — multiple levels of serious waterfalls.
  • Picnic lunch on the trail


Afternoon: 

  • Scenic stop at Rowena Crest and a short walk on the Mosier Twin Tunnels Trail.
  • Coffee stop: Stoked Coffee Roasters in Hood River.


Evening: 

  • Games and eduction with a meal from Private Chef Stina


DAY 3 Plan/Options

Morning: 

  • Drive to Mt. Hood National Forest
    • Moderate hike: Tamanawas Falls Trail (3.8 mi round trip, 500 ft gain). Gorgeous waterfall payoff
    • Lunch at the historic Timberline Lodge with sweeping mountain views


Afternoon options: 

  • Walk part of the Pacific Crest Trail near Timberline for alpine scenery
  • Small town shopping at Hood River's fantastic boutiques


Evening

  • Return to home base at the lodge for chill time and education with dinner by Private Chef Stina




DAY 4 Plan/Options

Morning through Afternoon

  • Rail Bike Ride along historic railways, ending for lunch at The Fruit Company
  • Optional: nearby hiking as time allows


Evening

  • Return to home base at the lodge for chill time and education with dinner by Private Chef Stina


DAY 5 Plan/Options

Morning 

  • Pack up and head west (~3 hrs drive), stopping for lunch and a resupply run on the way 
  • Optional stop for coffee at Insomnia Coffee at either their Hillsboro or Cannon Beach location


Afternoon

  • Arrive in Cannon Beach, check into our new home base
  • Walk the sand to Haystack Rock at low tide
  • Short trail option: Crescent Beach Trail from Ecola State Park (moderate, ~2 mi)


Evening:

  • Return to home base at the lodge for chill time and education with dinner by Private Chef Stina


DAY 6 Plan/Options

Morning

  • Hike to Cape Falcon Trail (4.6 mi, 500 ft gain) — sweeping coastal views
  • Picnic lunch on the trail


Afternoon

  • Explore Manzanita, a charming coastal town with shops and galleries.
  • Coffee stop: Sleepy Monk Coffee Roasters in Cannon Beach (legendary for strong brews)


Evening

  • Group dinner at Pelican Brewing Company followed by free time to relax at home base
  • Enjoy sunset at the beach before heading back in for the night


DAY 7 Plan/Options

Morning through Afternoon

  • Drive back inland to (~40 min) to Silver Falls State Park
  • Moderate hike: Trail of Ten Falls Loop (8 mi, < 1000 ft) where we'll see and walk behind several waterfalls!
  • Picnic lunch in the park


Evening

  • Stop in Silverton to enjoy quaint shops and restaurants
  • Optional swap:  Neahkahnie Mountain Trail near Manzanita (3 mi, 900 ft gain, epic views).


DAY 8 Plan/Options

Morning

  • Wake up and take a stroll on the beach and enjoy tidepooling
  • Coffee stop: Sea Level Bakery + Coffee (great pastries too!)
  • Pack up and prepare to depart


Early Afternoon

  • Drive back to Portland (~1.5–2 hrs) for flight departures

 A powerhouse loop linking two of the Gorge’s most iconic waterfalls, with misty switchbacks, basalt cliffs, and nonstop postcard views

Rowena Crest

A sweeping cliffside viewpoint famous for its dramatic horseshoe highway and wildflower-studded panoramas of the Columbia River

Mosier Twin Tunnels Trail

4 mi

A car-free, cliff-hugging trail through historic tunnels and volcanic bluffs—easy mileage, big Gorge views

Tamanawas Falls Trail

3.8 mi, 500 ft

A forested river walk ending at a roaring curtain of water plunging over a lava cliff—cool, misty, and worth every step

Historic Timberline Lodge

An iconic alpine lodge draped on the slopes of Mount Hood, more famously known as the Overlook Hotel in the Stanley Kubrick film The Shining

Rail bikes Excursion

Hop on a pedal-powered railbike and roll along abandoned tracks in the Hood River Valley with majestic Mount Hood looming ahead

Trail of Ten Falls Loop

A waterfall wonderland where you stroll behind, beside, and beneath some of Oregon’s most unforgettable cascades
