Rainier to the Rainforest

This adventure was so popular we added a second opportunity the week following! Spaces are currently available for Group 2! 


From glacier peaks to moss-draped forests, we'll go from Mount Rainier’s alpine wonderland to the emerald depths of Olympic National Park. Hike wildflower meadows, chase waterfalls, summit ridgelines, and unwind beside the turquoise waters of Lake Crescent with gourmet feasts with our private Chef, Brent. 


Difficulty Rating - Moderate to Difficult, Some Challenging Treks

Max elevation gain 2.1K ft, 25-35 total miles of hiking, light pack (clothing, trail food, supplies), cool mornings, comfortable daytime highs (~60-70 degrees Fahrenheit), mix of full sunshine and mist with variations in mountain chill and coastal drizzle.

Itinerary

Each day is packed with adventure, but with flexible options

We will meet at SEATAC Airport and take a private vehicle to Ashford, Washington to the forest base near the Southwest entrance of Mount Rainier.


DAY 1 Plan/Options

Afternoon: Easy warmup hike on the Trail of Shadows (0.7 mi loop) -- bubbling mineral springs, mossy forest, and intro to Rainier's story.


Evening: Welcome dinner with Chef Brent's Campfire Kickoff Feast


DAY 2 Plan/Options

Morning Hike: Skyline Trail to Panorama Point (5.5 mi, 1,700 ft gain – moderate/challenging)

  • Early start to catch the best light at Paradise.
  • Wildflower meadows, marmot sightings, and glacier views that’ll stop you in your tracks.
  • Optional extension to complete the full Skyline Loop (8.5 mi).
  • Lunch: Trail picnic with a view of Nisqually Glacier.


Evening: Fireside recovery dinner (Brent's Mountain Harvest Bowls) with storytelling and chilling


DAY 3 Plan/Options

Morning: Explore the lush Ohanapecosh region.

  • Hike: Silver Falls Loop (3 mi moderate loop) + Grove of the Patriarchs (1.5 mi easy) — massive 1,000-year-old cedars and Douglas firs.

Afternoon: Optional stops at Narada Falls or Reflection Lakes on the way back to camp.


Evening: Fireside hangout, music, and stargazing with a meal from Private Chef Brent


DAY 4 Plan/Options

Morning through Afternoon: 

  • Pack up and enjoy one last mountain coffee under the trees.
  • Scenic drive (~5 hours) west through Tacoma and along the Hood Canal.
  • Arrive at Lake Crescent, our new lakeside camp base.

Evening:

  • Sunset paddle or dip in the lake.
  • Dinner: Brent’s Welcome to the Wild Coast Feast seafood boil


DAY 5 Plan/Options

Morning: 

  • Hike: Mount Storm King Trail (4 mi roundtrip, 2,100 ft gain – challenging)
    • Start early for the climb and breathtaking lake overlook.
    • Optional rope-assisted scramble for the bold.
  • Cooldown Hike: Marymere Falls (1.8 mi easy loop) for a refreshing stroll.

Afternoon: Lounge lakeside, paddleboard, or nap in the sun.


Evening: Group circle + reflection on courage and confidence, with a meal from Private Chef Brent


DAY 6 Plan/Options

Morning: Drive ~ 2 hour to the Hoh Rainforest.

  • Hikes: Hall of Mosses (1 mi) and Spruce Nature Trail (1.2 mi) with ferns, nurse logs, and that otherworldly rainforest hush.

Afternoon: Drive ~ 1.5 hours to Rialto Beach 

  • Hike: Hole-in-the-Wall (4 mi roundtrip).
  • Lunch: Picnic on the beach with tidepool exploring.

Evening: Drive ~ 2 hrs back to Lake Crescent camp and enjoy a meal from Private Chef Brent


DAY 7 Plan/Options

Morning: 

  • Hike: Sol Duc Falls Trail (1.6 mi roundtrip
  • Optional Hike: Lover’s Lane Loop (6 mi roundtrip)

Afternoon: Devils Punchbowl on Lake Crescent


Evening: Closing reflections under the stars and our Farewell Dinner: Brent’s Rainforest Finale Feast


DAY 8 Plan/Options

Morning: 

  • Coffee and breakfast by the lake
  • Pack up and drive back to Seattle (~4.5 hours)
  • Optional group coffee stop in Port Townsend for coastal goodbyes

A bucket-list alpine trek climbing above the clouds—wildflower meadows, glaciers, and jaw-dropping views of Mount Rainier in all her glory.

Ohanapecosh Silver Falls Loop

3 mi

 A lush forest loop leading to a roaring waterfall tucked in mossy canyon walls—classic Pacific Northwest magic.

Ohanapecosh Grove of the Patriarchs

1.5 mi

Cross a swinging bridge to stand among ancient giants—towering thousand-year-old cedars and firs in a hushed, cathedral-like grove.

Narada Falls at Mount Rainier

< 1 mi

Feel the mist from a 180-foot cascade that tumbles dramatically through a volcanic gorge—an easy-access icon of Mount Rainier.

Reflection Lakes at Mount Rainier

0.4 - 1.3 mi

Perfect mirror views of Rainier on calm mornings—one of the park’s most photogenic and peaceful spots. (Roundtrip hiking distance varies by origin point - 0.4 mi from Narada Falls, 1.3 mi from Grove of the Patriarchs)

Lake Crescent Basecamp

4 mi

A sapphire-blue alpine lake surrounded by forested peaks—our serene lakeside home inside Olympic National Park.

Mount Storm King Trail

4 mi, 2.1K ft

A steep, heart-pounding climb with rope assists and a jaw-dropping payoff: panoramic views over Lake Crescent and the Strait beyond.

Marymere Falls

1.8 mi

A gentle forest walk to a graceful, 90-foot waterfall framed by moss-draped maples and ferns.

Paddle Sports at Lake Crescent

Kayak, canoe, or paddleboard across crystal-clear waters, ringed by towering peaks and old-growth stillness.

Hoh Rainforest Hall of Mosses Trail

1 mi

Step into a fairytale forest where every surface is draped in emerald moss—otherworldly, damp, and full of life.

HOH RAINFOREST Spruce Nature Trail

1.2 mi

A quiet wander through towering Sitka spruce and ancient nurse logs, where the air hums with the sound of rain and ravens.

Hole-In-the-Wall at Rialto Beach

4 mi

Raw and unforgettable—hike to a natural sea arch carved by wind and waves along Rialto Beach, a stretch of Pacific coast where sea stacks rise from the surf and driftwood logs line the sand.

Sol Duc Falls Trail (Optional: Lovers Lane Loop)

1.6 mi (or 6 mi)

A mossy, enchanted trail leading to one of Olympic’s most stunning waterfalls, thundering through a narrow gorge. Optional hike of the more challenging Lovers Lane Loop.

Port Townsend Washington

A charming Victorian seaport brimming with creative energy—art galleries, ocean breezes, and coastal small-town magic.
